Health Update

We are thankful for the proactive leadership in our Fraternity and extend our sincere concern and support to our fraters, families, partners, and communities who have been impacted by the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The Executive Office and Fraternity Board continue to monitor the situation closely.

Phi Delta Epsilon Medical Fraternity follows all university and campus guidelines for in-person meetings, events, and activities for all chapters and Board the spring term. Many campuses are embracing an online learning strategy and most campuses have updated their schedules. Members are expected to be diligent in best health practices and follow University and Fraternity policies. Regardless of the mask policy, PhiDE requires all members to wear masks 100% of the time when indoors at Fraternity meetings or events. No food or drink is permitted. Social distancing even when outside is requested.

Phi Delta Epsilon encourages our members to stay connected electronically with us through the use of GroupMe for officers and make use of PhiDE resources. Due to uncertain campus dates and plans, we are creating flexible options for chapter operations this spring and monitoring campus updates daily.

Please note the following immediate changes for chapter operations.

Chapter Meetings:

Regardless if your campus has canceled student activities of any size, we are requesting you to host chapter meetings via Zoom (or a similar video chat-style system) for the first week of class. This is the time to ensure your chapter has a crisis management communication standard using apps such as GroupMe or Slack. Continuing to have chapter meetings electronically rather than pushing them back until you can meet in-person will help ensure your members are connected and supported.

Formal and/or Contracted Events:

Spring is a popular time for PhiDE formals. At this time, any requests to host a formal in will be denied as COVID-19 continues to impact our campuses and communities. If you have a formal or other large event scheduled and your campus has restricted student activities, contact our office and we will do our best to help you maneuver the complications that may arise as events are canceled. Please note that off-campus events follow the on-campus University/College policies.

Member safety is key.  Please continue to educate your chapter and members on the symptoms of COVID-19, how it spreads and how to prevent illness by sharing the CDC website.

Your phamily cares about your safety and success. We will continue to monitor the changing situation and if we can be of any assistance, please contact our office as Staff and Board Members are here to support your endeavors.
